In such a collection a poet is one of many. Each poem as varied in content as each poet is in personality. In addition to their published poem each poet was asked to write a paragraph about their poetic background. My paragraph opened with the sentence, ‘My poetry is word pictures sketched in my mind as emotion brushes against the edge of a physical image.’ My poem, ‘In The Solitude’ is an exploration of a common theme with my written work. Solitude, for me, is not loneliness or isolation, but an opportunity to breathe the rhythm and pattern of the natural world as I breathe the rhythm and pattern of the words I write.
